Original Designs

When not working on commissions I design furniture and use my lathe. I usually begin with a utility knife, a stack of card and a lump of bluetack. Then I cut and piece together different shapes and designs until I come up with something I like. I designed the "Convex" shelf unit and the "Twist" table this way while experimenting with intersecting planes. If not making furniture I also have great fun turning on my lathe. I pick up lumps of wood here or there and turn them when I get a chance. Often while chopping fire wood I'll set aside a nice log which has "potential."
